Two-day National Webinar from tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Every year, 23rd September is celebrated as the “International Day of Sign Languages” by United Nations. The theme for this year is “Sign Languages Unite Us.” 

On this occasion, the Centre for AAC & Sign Language, Centre of Excellence, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, is organising a two-day National Webinar titled “Recent Advancements and Practices in Augmentative and   Alternative Communication and Indian Sign Language” on Sept.22 and  23.

Manojan, Master Sign Language Instructor at Association of Persons with Disability, Bengaluru, will be inaugurating the programme tomorrow at 10 am. Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Director AIISH, will preside. Resource persons for the webinar include Dr. David Goldberg, New Jersey, USA, Dr. Anil Prabhakar, IIT Chennai, Swati Chakraborty, IICP Kolkata, Dr.Usha Dalvi, ISAAC-India Chapter.

 Around 300 students and professionals in the field of rehabilitation across the country will be participating. The coordinators for the webinar are Dr. Reuben Varghese, Scientist – B and Rubby, Sign Language Teacher, AIISH.
