AIISH to hold phone-in on “Middle ear infections”

Mysore/Mysuru: All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, has organised a live phone-in programme on Jan. 22 between 2 pm and 3 pm on the topic: “Middle ear infections: Can they be prevented or treated?”

The Resource Persons are: Dr. T. K. Prakash, Associate Professor, Department of ENT, AIISH and N.M. Mamatha, Assistant Professor, Department of Audiology, AIISH.

Dr. Jayashree C. Shanbal, Head, Tele-Centre for Persons with Communication Disorders (TCPD), AIISH, will be the Co-ordinator while Dr. Prashanth Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Audiology, AIISH,  will be the Moderator. 

Infection in the middle ear can affect individuals of any age group but seen more frequently in children. One can experience pain, itching sensation, blocking, fullness in the ear, foul smell, discharge, imbalance, or hearing loss. A long-standing infection can damage the middle ear structures and can lead to hearing loss.
