AIISH’s fun ways to learn for kids

June 15, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Engaging kids in a meaningful way is one of the major challenging tasks for most of the parents during this lockdown period.

In an effort to ease this situation, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) has created a number for videos using which parents can engage their kids through ‘Aatada Jotengondu Paatha’ (Learn lesson through a game).

This ambitious project, which is the brainchild of AIISH Director Dr. M. Pushpavathi, aims to engage children with fun learning activities for children. Sentence structure and other such language learning process has been made easy and enjoyable for kids through activities including day-to-day conversations about groceries, which are used at every household. Simple methodologies to engage and converse with them, at the same time improve their vocabulary, have also been demonstrated in these videos, which has now reached over 600 parents through WhatsApp and other such social media. Each week, one topic is being highlighted and released by AIISH.

“Our kids know about doctors, engineers and other such popular professions but totally unaware about farmers, dairy workers and other such persons in our society. They need to know about other such topics including healthy eating habits, our food etc., and hence, we have made an effort here to teach them in a fun way,” said Dr. M. Pushpavathi.

“Instead of children spending their valuable time on mobile phone, parents can make use of these videos to engage their kids in a more effective and meaningful way through these fun learning activities,” she added.
