AIR staff oppose posting of officials on deputation

August 8, 2018

Mysuru:  Upset over the posting of officials from other Central Department, mainly Telecom sector, to key posts in All India Radio (AIR), the Programming Staff serving at AIR attached to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, staged a lunch-hour protest in front of Akashvani in Yadavagiri here yesterday.

Dubbing the move as an effort to pressurise the AIR to  increase revenue, the Programming Staff slammed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for recruiting technical professionals to head key Programming posts.

Claiming that personnel from BSNL, Engineers from Indian Telecom Service and IRS officers are being deputed to run the show at AIR, which is nothing short of a disaster, the protesters urged the Government to fill up vacant posts in AIR and Doordarshan.

The protesters also urged the Government to immediately stop deputation and appoint permanent personnel who are in the know of programme production.
