Vaastu-Fengu Shui and Bio-energetics – By S.B.S. Surendran, Accredited Master, Feng Shui Consultant.
Designing and placing the main door and frame is an essential part of a building construction hence adapting the right dimensions, material and position ensures that the house is not deprived of good energy which would in turn affect the occupants over a period of time.
Main door is the most important area in a building; both Vaastu and Feng Shui attach great importance not just for the position but also for the auspicious time to place the frame and door during construction. The main entrance holds a unique position in relation to the rest of the doors in the house and hence additional care is required in attending to the requirements of this door.
The position of the main door is quite critical as each compass direction has exalted or positive direction or debilitated or negative directions. Hence one needs to take extra care while designing the home to ensure that the main door is in the exalted position.
If it’s a home or an office which already exists then by adapting Feng Shui tenets and activating the good sectors by identifying them, one can transform the energy and the feel of the place and in turn correct the existing defects. This is applicable not just to grounded properties but even to condominiums and row houses which have a limitation in terms of renovation or reconstruction.
The most important areas of concern are the location and direction of the front door which brings in the flow of Chi (energy) and in the case of apartments and condominiums, the balcony and picture window also need to be considered apart from the main door orientation.
Other important areas like the kitchen location and stove placement within the kitchen, the master bedroom and most importantly the location of the toilet need to be assessed.
In Classical Feng Shui, the location and direction are vitally and equally important and in case of existing buildings there are various methods which have been documented by the traditional Feng Shui masters to mitigate the ill effects.
It is considered auspicious if the entrance to the property and the main door of the house are on the same side and it is inauspicious if the main door to the house is on the opposite side to the entrance of the property.
Water body or underground tank, septic tank, or canal under the main entrance is a taboo and is said to cause loss of wealth and triggers sickness to the occupants.
Ensure that main door is free of afflictions like electric pole, trees and towers. If they are more than 50 feet away then it is not considered so much of an affliction, otherwise you need to shield the door either by plants or creepers. The entrance should also be given importance with regard to what is revealed when the front door opens into the house. The front door needs to be strong and should also be the biggest door in the house when compared to other doors.
Aligning windows or doors in a straight line with the main door is considered bad Feng Shui as the “Chi” energy coming in goes away directly.
Feng Shui emphasises on the point that “Chi””energy should be allowed to settle down in a building and spread slowly and not rush out.
