All India Co-operation Week from tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: The 70th All India Co-operation Week (Akhila Bharata Sahakara Saptaha) with the theme ‘Chintana-Manthana’ will take place from Nov. 14 to 20 in different taluks of the district.

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, District Co-operative Union President H.V. Rajeev said that the week will be celebrated under the guidance of Karnataka Co-operative Federation.

Pointing out the Co-operative Movement in the country began 119 years ago, he said the Co-operative sector has grown by leaps and bounds since then.

Noting that Mysuru district has as many as 2,523 Co-operative Societies, he said that the growth of these Societies will be discussed during the week. All Co-operative Societies have been asked to hoist the 7-colour Co-operative Flag atop their buildings during the week, he added.

“The ‘Chintana Manthana’ involves discussion on the role of Co-operative Societies in achieving  the Five Trillion Dollar Economy. The other issues to be mainly discussed include sustainable developmental goals. The week-long event will begin with a programme at the District Co-operative Union auditorium in Mysuru on Nov. 14. The programme on Nov. 15 will take place at Adichunchanagiri Samudaya Bhavan in Chunchanakatte of K.R. Nagar taluk, on Nov. 16 at TAPCMS auditorium in T. Narasipur, on Nov. 17 at Shikshakara Bhavan in Hunsur, on Nov. 18 at Ambedkar Bhavan in Nanjangud, on Nov. 19 at Chittenahalli Primary Agricultural Credit Co-op. Society in Periyapatna taluk and on Nov. 20 at Namadhari Gowda Samudaya Bhavan in Saragur,” Rajeev said.

Co-operative Union office-bearers Sadananda, Mahadevaswamy, Bhyrappa, Prashant Tatachar, Karnataka Institute of Co-operatives Mysuru (KICM) Mysuru Principal Chandrashekar and  Acting CEO Vishweswaraiah were present at the press meet.
