Nanjangud: A 22-year-old woman, depressed over frequent family feuds, reportedly drowned her two-year-old son in a water-filled bucket and later hanged herself at her house in Gattawadipura village in the taluk yesterday.

The deceased are Annapoorna and her son Mohit. A native of Ummatur village in Chamarajanagar, Annapoorna was given in marriage to Mahadevaprasad of Gattawadipura. It is learnt that of late, frequent quarrel used to take place between the couple for trivial issues.

Depressed over this, Annapoorna, yesterday, drowned her two-year-old son in a bucket of water and later hanged herself.

Nanjangud Dy.SP Govindaraju, Circle Inspector Lakshmikanth Talawar, Dodda Kavalande Sub-Inspector Mahendra and staff visited the spot.

The bodies were shifted to Nanjangud General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. A case has been registered at Kavalande Police Station.
