Alleged harassment on Dalit employee: Federation demands action against accused

Mysuru: Alleging that a Dalit employee at the Institute of Development Studies of University of Mysore was being harassed continuously, members of Dalit Students Federation and Research Association stage a protest in front of the institute yesterday.

The protesters, who assembled in front of the Institute, alleged that B.M. Ramachandra, who is working at the Institute, was being harassed by Technical Assistant K.T. Sandeep, who also tried to assault Ramachandra. The protesters demanded stringent action against Sandeep.

Speaking to the media, Ramachandra said that Sandeep, a contract employee, was harassing him mentally since many days and had even threatened him with life. He further said that Sandeep was behaving indecently with the students and asked the Department Director to initiate action against Sandeep.
