October 4, 2020

Nanjangud: A three-year-old girl has been allegedly kidnapped near Srikanteshwara Temple in the town and the Police, who have taken one person into their custody are interrogating him.

The kidnapped girl is the daughter of Parvathi of K.R. Nagar, who ekes out a living by seeking alms from devotees near the Temple since three years.

According to the complaint lodged by Parvathi with Nanjangud Town Police, on Thursday, a stranger approached her and gave Rs. 10 to the child and told Parvathi that he would take care of the child if she gives her to him.

Parvathi, who was shocked when the stranger asked her to give him her child, left from the spot along with the child and came near the Temple chariot.

After a few minutes, Parvathi went to attend nature’s call and when she came back in a few minutes she found her child missing. She immediately lodged a kidnap complaint with the Police.

Nanjangud Town Police, who registered a case, have taken a tea vendor into their custody and are interrogating him. The Police have also collected CCTV footages of cameras installed in the surroundings of the Temple and have launched a hunt to nab the accused.

Sub-Inspector Ravikumar, speaking to SOM said that, Parvathi’s two-year-old son too had gone missing earlier and six persons were arrested in this regard. He further said that steps have been taken to check their fingerprints to find out if they are involved in the kidnap.

He further said that now, Parvathi’s three-year-old daughter has been kidnapped and the kidnappers would be brought to book soon.
