Alleged scooter theft at Bahuroopi Theatre Festival

Case not booked against accused: Jayalakshmipuram Police

Mysuru: Jayalakshmipuram Police have said that they have not booked any case against the man who was accused of stealing a scooter from Rangayana campus on  Jan.14 during the Bahuroopi Theatre Festival.

It may be recalled here that on that day, public had caught one R.K. Bhaskar, a resident of C.J. Mohalla for allegedly stealing a scooter belonging to one Venkatesh who owned a stall during the Theatre Festival.

Venkatesh had parked his Jupiter scooter near the main gate of Rangayana.

Inspector Prakash said that as per the statements given by Bhaskar, Venkatesh had left the keys on the vehicle and observing this, he (Bhaskar) drove the scooter to the gate to hand it over to the security and not with the intention  of stealing it.

Prakash said that though the public had handed over Bhaskar to the Police, a case was not booked as the scooter owner Venkatesh refused to lodge a complaint.

“We have taken the accused Bhaskar’s statement and have let him off,” he added.
