“Alumni must contribute to alma mater’s growth”

Mysore/Mysuru: JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, had organised Alumni Meet (2022-23) at its premises recently. Dr. D.B. Natesh, Deputy Secretary, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), inaugurated the programme.

In his inaugural address, Natesh opined: “JSS institution has played a very important role in moulding students in all the aspects. Alumni are indebted to their alma mater, since it has contributed immensely in building their career and hence during their lifetime one has to clear the debts by serving the institution”.

He recollected the memories  on campus, as how he could groom his innate leadership qualities apart from moulding his character that made him a responsible citizen.

In his presidential address, Prof. D.S. Guru, Department of Studies in Computer Science, University of Mysore, expressed his heartfelt thanks to JSS institution which embraced him like a mother when he came for the first time to Mysuru. “The college has not only educated me, but has also helped in shaping the career,” added Guru.

Continuing, he expressed that the alumni may contribute to the institutions by imparting skill-based training programmes, helping the needy students by providing scholarship, conducting seminars and other activities.

Prof. Noor Afza, Department  of Studies and Research in Business Administration, Tumkur University, who was the chief guest, opined that “the college and the teachers have played a vital role in moulding her life. This college is like a ‘Temple of Education’ which has moulded many students like me.”

Further she said that the alumni should volunteer themselves in conducting various programmes at least twice a year.

B.S. Prashanth, Managing Director, Safe Wheels Group, Mysuru, said: “the College has played a major role in moulding the lives of thousands of students and he is one among them.” He shared his experience about how the College has helped him to become a successful entrepreneur.

A. Sudheendra, Managing Director, Ifimed Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Mysuru, expressed his views about the commitment of the College in nurturing discipline, confidence and punctuality which has helped him in achieving the success. Further, he also suggested that one should get involved in NGOs and take up volunteer services which help in moulding the attitude.” 

Puttarajappa, Administrative Officer (retd.), JSS Pharmacy College, Mysuru, opined: “JSS institution is like a family where the qualities of love and affection are taught without prejudice. Great vision and sense of commitment of the Guruparampara of Sri Suttur Mutt has made JSS College a renowned educational institution.”

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, briefed about the programmes and facilities of the college.

The college is one of the premier institutions at the national level. The alumni are the brand ambassadors, who should take up some initiatives and contribute to the overall development of the college.

Principal Prof. M.P. Vijayendra Kumar, welcomed. Dr. B. Prabhuswamy proposed a vote of thanks. Rekhashree and Sahana rendered invocation and Alumni Cell Convener Dr. R. Suhas was the comperer.
