Mysuru: Movie-lovers in city will be treated to some creative and original short films at Cinerama-2019, the National-level Short Film Festival hosted by Department of Visual Communications, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus.
Around 60 entries from Communication Colleges and Universities across the country are expected for the 3rd edition of Cinerama. The maximum duration for the original short films is 20 minutes and it could be in English or any regional language with subtitles compulsory. The 10 best entries will be screened on Apr. 20.
Dr. Ramya K. Prasad, Chairperson, Department of Visual Communication, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru, said “Cinerama aims to provide students a unique platform to showcase their creative talent and skill in short film making, besides getting valuable insights from professionals from the film industry.” Besides the competition, the Fest comprises workshop and interaction with eminent resource persons from the cine industry, Photography contest called ‘One-Stop-Snap-Shot-Photo-Caption-Contest’ and Selfie contest. The winners of each event will be awarded cash prizes. Apart from best three films, special prizes for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Editor and Best Performer will be awarded.
About Department of Visual Communication, Amrita School: A three year B.Sc Visual Media, five-year Integrated M.Sc. Visual Communication, two-year PG in M.Sc. Visual Communication are the programmes offered by the Department. Theory-cum-practical specialisation subjects such as Event Management, Ad Photography, Public Relations and Corporate Communication, Advertising Aspects and Aesthetics, Online Journalism, Documentary Film-making, Media Management, Film Studies are a part of the curriculum.
