An Indian Idol in French held in city

Mysuru:  ‘Idole Indienne’, an All India French Singing contest, was held in city for students of French in India by the Indian Association of Teachers of French (IATF), an association that was stared in 1953 with the intention of creating a forum for teachers of French language in the country.

The IATF periodically organises seminars and teachers training workshops by experts. It also conducts competitions like ‘Spelling Bee’ and ‘Idole Indienne” for students in order to promote French language and culture.

The preliminary round of Idole Indienne-2018 was held on Aug.8 at Phoenix International Academy auditorium in city to select contestants for the semi-finals and finals to be held in Goa and Pune. Over 20 French students from various institutions participated.  

Phoenix International Academy is one of the leading international institutions of Mysuru and is a Pearson-approved examination centre. Sebastien Pigeat, an ex-serviceman from France, who has married a Mysurean and settled in Mysuru and Jonathan, a talented singer were the judges for the contest. The following students were selected to attend the semi-finals round to be held at Goa on Aug.18.

Below 18 years category: Prathyusha from National Public School and Bhanuja Nair from Mahesh PU College.

Above 18 years category: Anagha from the National Institute of Engineering and Rini Paul from the Wadiyar School of Architecture.
