Anganwadi workers stage protest

Mysore/Mysuru: Anganwadi workers staged protest this morning opposite the Deputy Commissioner’s office seeking fulfilment of their demands.

Over 100 Anganwadi workers participated in the protest and demanded increase in honorarium amount based on seniority, to provide a lump sum amount to 7,294 Anganwadi workers who have retired after 2015. They also demanded minimum pension amount of Rs. 5,000 each to retired worker and helpers as well as ESI and other such benefits.

“During Bengaluru Chalo held on Mar. 3, our leaders held a meeting with Minister for Women and Child Development Shashikala Jolle who had promised to fulfil our demands, but unfortunately, there is no mention about fulfilling of our demands during the recent State Budget. Hence, we have called for State-wide protest today,” they said.

Protesters later submitted a memorandum at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
