Mysuru: The Annual Feast of St. Anthony Church was held with religious fervour at Dornahalli in K.R. Nagar taluk, Mysuru, yesterday.
The celebrations were held under the guidance of Dornahalli Church Priest David Sagayaraj and Administrator Praveen Pedru. The annual festivities began on June 5 and various rituals were held yesterday. Special prayers and rituals were conducted, led by Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop Emeritus and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Mysore.
Priests of several Churches in Mysuru, Mandya and other places conducted Mass prayers, besides rendering songs in Kannada, English and Tamil.
Thousands of devotees from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Kerala thronged the Church. They attended the special Mass and offered prayers. The devotees were seen bathing in the canal near the Church and later, lined up to have darshan of the Saint.
St. Anthony’s idol was taken out in a procession in a chariot on the main streets of Dornahalli in the evening, bringing down the curtains on the annual feast.
