Annual tax collection by MCC and MUDA: Stray thoughts

May 8, 2020

Sir,

Many readers have voiced their concern on social distancing when MCC or MUDA open up their counters for tax collection. Till date there is no input from these two organisations on the issue of social distancing.

A glaring example we saw when liquor shops opened on May 4. Social distance went to tail spin. Here it was only across the counter purchase. Whereas for tax collection, a two page form is filled along with a three page cash receipt. A person has to stand in queue for getting the form filled and a never-ending queue to pay cash at the bank counter.

It is our earnest request that the authorities make arrangement for online mode of payment to avoid people getting pushed and harassed. Will our officials respond?
