Another landmark in Mysuru Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue

April 16, 2017

The heritage city of Mysuru will get another beautiful landmark in the form of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue near the Town Hall. The statue, that is likely to be installed and inaugurated by the end of this month, will join the list of famous statue circles including Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, Chamarajendra Wadiyar, Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar and Basavanna. The Ambedkar statue is being constructed based on the model of Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar statue and the Public Works Department has taken up the works at a cost of Rs. 4.95 crore. The 9-ft tall marble statue of Dr.  Ambedkar, holding the Indian Constitution, is being sculpted by Shilpi Arun Yogiraj, who has carved the Jayachamarajendra statue. The area surrounding the statue will be barricaded and Mexican Grass patches will be laid near the steps to enhance the aesthetics.
