‘Apiculture with organic farming is a viable combination’

Mysuru: The Horticulture Department of Zilla Panchayat (ZP) had organised a district-level workshop on Apiculture at Jaganmohan Palace here yesterday. A demonstration on various aspects of apiculture was also held.

Inaugurating the programme, ZP CEO P. Shivashankar opined that apiculture could be done along with organic farming for bettering profit.

He added that apiculture was a skilled profession with guaranteed yield which farmers should give a thought to.

Resource persons briefed the gathering on maintenance of bee colonies, importance and medicinal benefits of honey and precautions to be taken in apiculture.

Horticulture Deputy Director D. Manjunath, Joint Director (Mysuru Division) Dr. H.M. Nagaraj and officials of Horticulture Department were present.

Farmers from Mysuru, Nanjangud, H.D. Kote, Hunsur and other places participated in the workshop.
