Sir,
As a senior citizen who regularly travels by city buses, I wish to bring to light a pressing issue affecting countless commuters across Mysuru.
The absence of proper lighting in most bus shelters has become a serious concern, particularly for vulnerable groups like women, children and elderly passengers like myself. We often find ourselves waiting in complete darkness, feeling anxious and unsafe until our buses arrive.
This problem persists at several key locations, including the bus shelters near Mysuru Akashvani in Yadavagiri, at Dasappa Circle, Railway Station, K.R. Hospital, Agrahara, Siddappa Square, Chamundipuram, Vishweshwaranagar, Ganapati Temple, Maharshi Public School, J.P. Nagar, Shaneshwara Temple, Goblimara and Kavitha Bakery.
These are all high-traffic stops where adequate lighting would make a significant difference to passenger safety and comfort.
Through this appeal, I earnestly request the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner and jurisdictional MLAs to address this issue on a priority basis.
Installing proper lighting at these bus shelters would greatly enhance public safety and demonstrate our city’s commitment to citizen welfare. I urge the authorities to take swift action to illuminate these important public spaces for the benefit of all commuters.
