The Environment, the Forests, the Landscape and the very future of Kodagu and its people are at stake due to the proposals for two destructive projects of Railways and four Multi-lane National Highways through Kodagu. With the felling of lakhs of trees across Kodagu, the death of River Cauvery will be only a matter of time.
In this regard, the Coorg Wildlife Society (CWS) is coordinating a Save Kodagu and Cauvery Campaign with the support of various organisations and individuals across Kodagu. You may be aware that we have already organised protests at Madikeri and Kutta last year. We have met the Chairman, Railway Board at Delhi and the Project Director of NHAI at Ramnagar. We have also taken up the matter with various political leaders.
However, in order to fight the vested interests that are hell bent on these projects and to put pressure on our ill-advised policy-makers, much more needs to be done. We will need to approach the Courts, organise more protests, involve National TV Channels and send delegations to Bengaluru and Delhi. Press conferences and other media-related events will be required not only in Kodagu but also at Mysuru, Bengaluru and Delhi.
We have already put in a lot of time, money and effort from our side and we will continue to do so. However, we urgently require additional funding support to be able to manage the entire spectrum of actions. We, therefore, request every concerned people hailing from Kodagu to contribute generously and at the earliest towards The Save Kodagu Fund of Coorg Wildlife Society.
Crossed Cheque favouring CWS, Save Kodagu Fund, may please be sent to our office address: Coorg Wildlife Society, PO Box 111, Near DFO Quarters, Chain Gate, Madikeri-571201. Alternately, RTGS payments may be made to CWS, Save Kodagu Fund, Corporation Bank, Madikeri, A/C No: 000700101020111, IFSC Code: CORP0000007.
Please show solidarity to our cause and provide us your valuable support.
