“Appropriate recruitment policies vital for selection of best candidates”

Mysuru: In today’s rapidly changing educational sector, a well-defined and appropriate recruitment policies are vital for the selection of right kind of candidates to various types of jobs, said Dr. N. N. Prahallada, former Faculty, Regional Institute of Education (RIE), NCERT, Mysuru.

He was delivering a lecture on the theme “Role of Recruitment Policies” at the three-day workshop titled “Introduction of education as an optional subject both at UG and PG levels of Higher Education” on July 12 organised by the Inter-University Centre for Teacher Education (IUCTE), RIE, NCERT, Mysuru.

Dr. Prahallada said creating a suitable recruitment policy is the first step in the efficient candidate’s selection process.  A clear and concise policy helps ensure a sound recruitment process. There should be a transparent and fair selection process that will assist Human Resource (HR) personnel to select the right candidates on the basis of merit. The good recruitment policies result in                                  a) transparency in the selection process, b) paves the way for merit-based selection, c) provides consistency, d) lends credibility to the education sector, and e) helps write an appropriate job description. 

Suitable advertisement for jobs plays a vital role to attract talented candidates. Employment Exchange, Employment Agencies and Educational Institutions needs to work properly to attract the best human resource for various jobs, he added.
