Mysuru, Feb.16- For the Last 17 years, N.R. Mohalla Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, has been organising Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana in a befitting manner inviting leading artistes from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to present Karnatak music concerts. So far 34 top artistes have performed during the Aradhana and nearly 170 artistes have ascended the stage of the Sangeetha Sabha for monthly concerts. This year’s Aradhana concerts will be held at Sri Prasanna Mahaganapathy Temple, Shivaji Road, N.R. Mohalla, from Feb.16 to 18:
Feb.16 (6.30 pm): Classical Vocal Karnatak Music by Vid. Ramakrishna Murthy of Chennai. He will be accompanied by Vidu. Smitha on violin, Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujam on ghata.
Vid. Ramakrishna Murthy has settled down at Chennai after graduation from California University, USA. He has taken full time to music and he is a great performer. He has won the best musical concert award and best performing artiste from the Music Academy, Chennai, for the last five consecutive years.
Feb.17 (6.30 pm): Karnatak music concert by Sangeetha Vidyanidhi Dr. Vidyabhushana of Bengaluru. A well-known musician who has released hundreds of CDs and Albums, he is a much sought after musician and a great crowd puller.
He will be accompanied by Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy on violin, Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy on mridanga, Vid. C.L. Amarnath on ghata and Vid. S. Nagaraj on tabla.
Feb.18 (9.30 am): Nadaswara; 10.30 am: Rendering of Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa krithis; 11.20 am: Felicitation to eminent personalities who have contributed to the cause of music — G.L.N. Ayya of Gnanabharathi, Mysuru, Vid. Koviladi R. Kala, an eminent Karnatak Musician and Vid. Prof. G.S. Ramanujam, a well-known mridanga / ghata artiste; 12.20 pm: Pancharathna Keerthanas of Saint Thyagaraja in chorus.
