Articulate Dance Festival

Articulate Festival-38, a dance series held on the third Sunday of every month, will be held on July  21 at 6 pm at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar.

The artistes performing in this week’s festival are as follows:

Akanksha Girish: A Bharatanatyam artiste of Vazhuvoor style, Akanksha was initiated into the art form by Guru Daya Ravi  and is now furthering under Dr. Janaki Rangarajan of ‘Nritya Niketan.’ 

Akanksha has received Abhinaya training from Bragha Bessel too. She has put in more than 15 years of practice and had her dance debut in the year 2015. She received the ‘Nritya Shiromani’ award from the Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangh in 2018.

The artiste is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering with a Minor in Mathematics at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

N. Shobha: Bharathanatyam artiste with 10 years of practice, she has completed Senior Exams in dance and Junior in Karnatak Music conducted by KSEEB. She has been awarded the title ‘Kalaapravana.’ A disciple of Guru Vidu. Geeta Sirisha of ‘Nataraja Arts Academy,’ Shobha is currently working for ‘Gallagher,’ Bengaluru. 

S. Vaidegi: Artiste of Kalakshetra style, she was initiated into Bharatanatyam by Velagani Selvakumar, pursued under Kalaimamani Jayashree Narayanan and is now furthering under Guru Abayakaram Krishnan with nearly 22 years of dance experience. She had her Arangetram in the year 2004. She has obtained Diploma in Bharatanatyam from Jawahar Bal Bhavan and MFA in Bharatanatyam from Annamalai University in Chidambaram. The artiste runs her own dance school Shiva Shakthi Natyalaya in Bengaluru. Vydegi is learning Kathak under Mysore B. Nagaraj.

Bianca Radhakrishna:  This Bharatanatyam artiste, initiated by Guru Srinivas, furthered the art under Shantala Awardee Guru Radha Sridhar, Venkatesha Natya Mandir, Bengaluru and has over 20 years of dance experience. Successfully completed Vidwat and is a graded artiste of Doordarshan. Bianca made her traditional dance debut in 2013. She has undergone special training under Guru Kandaswamy in Malaysia.

Akshatha Amin: A Kathak dancer, she began learning Kathak at Natya Institute of Choreography, Bengaluru, from Gurus Dr. Maya Rao and Chitra Venugopal for about four years. Currently she is trained under Guru  Mysore B. Nagaraj at Articulate Dance Studio. Akshatha has cleared Kathak exam conducted by KSEEB in distinction. 

She has participated in Yakshagana and many other folk dance forms and is practicing  Hindustani classical vocal. She is being trained in Hindustani vocal music by Ubhaya Gana Vidushi Dr. Shyamala G. Bhave. 

Academically, she is a Engineering graduate and a Master’s degree holder in Business Administration and currently is a gazetted officer in KPTCL.
