Asaram’s son Narayan Sai convicted in rape case

April 26, 2019

Surat: Narayan Sai, son of self-styled godman and rape convict Asaram Bapu, was convicted in a rape case by the Surat Court, the quantum of which will be announced on Apr. 30.  Sai was accused of rape by two sisters in Surat.

The almost 11-year-old case against Narayan Sai and Asaram Bapu was lodged after the Police had recorded statements of the victims. 53 witnesses were produced against Narayan Sai, prompting him to go underground when the case was registered. He was later arrested in 2013 on the Delhi-Haryana border, two months after the FIR was registered. Sai has also been accused of trying to bribe jail officials of Rs.13 crore, but has managed to get bail.

Among the two sisters, the younger sister has alleged being raped by Narayan Sai after identifying the locations, while the elder sister said that Asaram Bapu raped her.
