Mysore/Mysuru: ASHA workers staged protest at the premises of District Health and Family Welfare Department Office at Nazarbad in the city recently, urging for the fulfilment of various demands including the payment of pending incentive.
In the protest led by Karnataka State Composite ASHA Workers Association State Vice-President M. Umadevi, the agitators demanded the immediate payment of pending three to four months arrears from the Centre, release of amount under various components pending for the past several years and payment of honorarium and incentives of several ASHA workers, that has been deducted.
The protesters demanded that the registration through Samastha App should be stopped, along with the harassment being meted out to ASHA workers, under the pretext of evaluation. The retired ASHA workers, should be given lumpsum amount and the service of ASHA Sugamakararu should be continued with adequate pay.
DHO Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy, who visited the protesters, assured to pay the incentives within 10 days, besides calling for a meeting to redress their grievances.
