Mysore/Mysuru: Calling upon Brahmin community members to stay united in the better interests of the community, Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha President Ashok Haranahalli said that the Mahasabha has evolved plans for extending financial help to poor Brahmins.

He was speaking after being felicitated by Mysuru City and District Brahmins Association and Mandagere Manjunath Abhimanigala Balaga at ‘Ashokabhinandana’ programme organised at Hoysala Karnataka Bhavan on N.S. Road here on Saturday.

Noting that the Brahmin community has split into 3-4 splinter groups for various reasons, Ashok said that this will prove to be detrimental to the interests of the community at large.

Recalling the Mahasabha elections, he said that though several community leaders of Mysuru supported their own candidates, it is now time for expressing unity and solidarity in the larger interests of the community.

Maintaining that Brahmin community leaders were at the forefront of freedom struggle, he stressed on the need for promoting nationalism and patriotism. The Mahasabha will seek the help and support of NRIs of the community in extending financial help for taking care of education, elderly care and life needs of poor Brahmin families,  he added.

Brahmin Yuva Vedike Organising Secretary Ajay Shastri said that a community delegation comprising of elected people representatives and legal experts should be talk to the Government for seeking benefits and facilities to the community.

City and District Brahmins Association President D.T. Prakash presided. MLA S.A. Ramdas, MP Pratap Simha, former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, Hoysala Karnataka Sangha former President  K.R. Satyanarayana, Vedic Scholar Bhanuprakash Sharma, Corporator M.V. Ramprasad, Mysuru Brahmin Yuva Vedike office-bearers Jayasimha, Sridhar, Ranganath, Vijay Kumar, Jagadish, Prashanth, Suchendra and Chakrapani were present.
