Asian Games Star visits city

September 14, 2018

Dutee Chand, who won the silver in women’s 100 metres and 200 metres at the Jakarta Asian Games, visited Mysore Palace yesterday. She visited the Palace along with her friends and family members and also took part in the Ganesha Chaturthi pujas offered to the elephants.

By winning two silver medals, Dutee Chand has joined the illustrious compatriots such as P.T. Usha in the list of athletes who have won more than one medal at the Asian Games.

Hailing from Jajpur in Odisha, it was Dutee’s first visit to Mysuru. She said that she had seen the Mysore Palace only in pictures and was pretty impressed by the magnificent structure. “The Palace is beautiful and I am happy that I got a chance to see it. I also participated in the Ganesha Chaturthi pujas,” she said.

Dutee Chand is practicing rigorously to win the Gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
