Mysuru: Alleging that the lab assistant had assaulted a few students, the students of MBA Agri Business stage a protest in front of the Institute of Developmental Studies at Manasagangothri campus yesterday demanding removal of the lab assistant from the job.

Speaking to media persons, the students said that MBA Agri Business second year students Tilak, Ajith, Chethan and Rajesh, were talking to each other when Sandeep, the lab assistant, who was nearby, accused them of taking against him and assaulted them besides behaving in an indecent manner with the students.

The protesting students further said that though they reported the incident to Department Head Prof. Nagaraju, he behaved as if nothing had happened. They alleged that Prof. Nagaraju, who is the Professor of Geography is only a name-sake head of the Agri Business Department and does not respond to any problems faced by the students. The students demanded to change Prof. Nagaraju as the Department Head and also demanded the University authorities to dismiss Lab Assistant Sandeep from the job.

University of Mysore Registrar Prof. Lingaraja Gandhi, who rushed to the spot, pacified the agitating students and assured them of speaking with the authorities concerned following which the students withdrew their protests.
