Assault on saloon owner at Hebbal; Police register case after 15 days

Mysore/Mysuru: A salon owner was allegedly assaulted by a youth for no reason near Abhishek Circle on Nov. 25 afternoon and Hebbal Police have registered a case on Dec. 8, after a letter in this regard by a reader was published in Mysuru Mithra, the sister concern of Star of Mysore on Nov. 26.

M. Raju, owner of Goldwin Men’s Parlour near Abhishek Circle is the one who was assaulted and the accused is Raju alias Vasu, a resident of Manchegowdanakoppal.

On Nov. 25 afternoon, Raju, after consuming juice at a shop near Abhishek Circle, was on his way to the salon when Raju alias Vasu suddenly waylaid the salon owner and picked up a fight saying that he (salon owner Raju) was going despite he saw him and began to abused the salon owner using foul language, besides assaulting him.

Accused Raju alias Vasu reportedly threatened the salon owner the he would not leave him if he does not give him respect. Even as the accused was abusing the salon owner, a few shop owners intervened and rescued the salon owner. Ironically, the Hebbal Police had not taken the incident seriously.

Public said that the Police should have acted immediately if such goonda acts take place in their jurisdiction. Even if the victim had not lodged a complaint out of fear, the Police should have registered a case on their own and should have interrogated the accused person to know about the motive behind the assault besides taking steps to prevent such incidents from taking place.

But finally, the Hebbal Police, only after salon owner Raju lodged a complaint at about 11 am on Dec. 8, registered a case. Raju said that as he was out of station, there was a delay in lodging the complaint.
