Assembly monsoon session from Sept. 13 to 24

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Government has decided to hold the monsoon session of the Karnataka Legislature from Sept. 13 to 24 in Bengaluru, and this was decided in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking to newsmen, Parliamentary Affairs Minister J.C. Madhuswamy said due to COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Assembly session was delayed and now it will be held for ten days from Sept. 13 to 24. This is Bommai’s first Assembly session after becoming the CM post B.S. Yediyurappa’s resignation.

Ministers Sriramulu and Anand Singh were conspicuous by their absence at the Cabinet meeting. The monsoon session will be held at a time when there is fear of a third wave. Madhuswamy stated that the meeting also did not take up the issue of change of name of Indira Canteens.

The Cabinet has approved Karnataka State Mental Health Care Rule, 2021. Administrative sanction for the distribution of sanitary pads under the “Shuchi” programme to adolescent girls of Government and aided Schools and Colleges was also given.

It was also decided that 2,859 health centres will be set up as health and wellness centres at a cost of Rs. 478,91 crore. Over 60 percent of the project fund will come from the Centre.
