Mysuru: Theft of valuables and stealing gold chains during rush hours has increased at Sub-Urban Bus Stand in city with the latest incident of an Assistant Engineer losing her gold chain on Aug. 30.
Sheethal N. Shirurkar, an Assistant Engineer at Shivanasamudra Hydroelectric Power Station in Malavalli taluk is the one who lost her gold chain valued at Rs. 2.30 lakh.
On Aug. 30, Sheethal had come to Mysuru to attend a wedding ceremony. After participating in the wedding, she came to Platform No. 9 at Sub-Urban Bus Stand in the afternoon to board a bus to Malavalli. As there was a rush, she had removed her gold chain and kept it inside her vanity bag. As soon as the bus arrived at the platform, a huge crowd rushed towards the bus and Sheethal along with her son also boarded the bus in the rush.
After boarding the bus, she observed her vanity bag was open and on inspecting it she found her gold chain missing. Due to emergency at her workplace, she was unable to lodge a complaint immediately but filed a complaint later.
Based on the complaint, Lashkar Police have registered a FIR on Sept. 2.
