Mysuru: The final year Mechanical Engineering students of ATME College of Engineering comprising D.V. Raghu, Gayaz Mohammed, Md. Mohiyuddin Shariff and Mohd. Yaseen Ahmed have developed a low-cost, portable water vending machine as part of their final year project work. The vending machine accepts coin and dispenses a glass of water from pre-purified 20 litre can available in market.
The students were inspired to invent their own machine from the water vending machines installed at Railway Stations which requires a larger space and high investment. The project began with students conducting a survey at Malls, theatres, markets and tourist places. This Project was selected for financial funding from Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) and was also recognised as ‘Project of the Year.’
It was completed at a cost of Rs. 8,000 under the guidance of N. Rakshith, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering and G.N. Chandan, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
