Mysore/Mysuru: Intensifying the probe in the case pertaining to the attempt to grab a 80’x100’ site worth crores of rupees in upscale Yadavagiri locality of the city by creating fake documents, Lakshmipuram Police have reportedly taken two more persons into custody in connection with the case. The  two who have landed in Police net are said to be Akram of Mysuru and Srinivasamurthy of Bengaluru.

Lakshmipuram Police had registered a case against five persons in connection with the case where five persons were accused of submitting fake documents to grab the 80’x100’ site in Yadavagiri (Site No.152). While three of the accused — Mohammad Nayeem, a resident of Ghousianagar, Mubarak Shariff of Rajivnagar and Shahjahan of Udayagiri — were held when they had come to the office of MUDA and State Bank of India (SBI) Advocate Smitha Devaiah seeking legal opinion upon submission of fake documents pertaining to the site, for availing a big sum of Bank loan from SBI.

Two others — Akram and Srinivasmurthy — who had not come to the Advocate’s office then, were traced and reportedly held by Police yesterday. Police, who suspect the involvement of a big racket in fake documents creation, are learnt to be quizzing all the five accused. 

With the busting of fake document creation racket, MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, who addressed a press meet at MUDA office yesterday, said the racket was busted when five persons were caught trying to avail a huge sum of Bank loan after submitting as many as 30 fake documents pertaining to the Yadavagiri site. 

Lauding the alertness and shrewdness of MUDA advocate Smitha Devaiah in unearthing of the racket, Rajeev asked all MUDA site allottees who have kept their site vacant for years, to be more cautious. He also suggested such site owners to make frequent visits to their vacant sites and to erect boards that mention their name and phone number. 

Regular visits and erection of ownership board will largely help in putting a brake to creation of fake documents by unscrupulous persons who are always on the hunt for grabbing vacant sites, he added. He also appealed the site buyers and sellers to double-check the authenticity of  site documents with the Vigilance Cell set up by MUDA for the purpose, before entering into any deals.

MUDA Advocate Smitha Devaiah, who was instrumental in busting of the fake document racket, was felicitated on the occasion.

MUDA Secretary M.K. Savitha, Superintending Engineer Shankar, members Naveen, Lakshmidevi and other officials were present.

Form SIT to probe fake document cases

With the unearthing of several fake document cases in MUDA, Karnataka Praja Party (Raithaparva) has urged the Government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a District Judge to probe fake site document cases. 

In a press release issued yesterday, the Party’s Founder-President B. Shivanna said that many fake document cases have come to light in MUDA. Welcoming the MUDA Chairman’s repeated appeals to the public asking them to be wary of fake site documents, he wondered why the Government was silent on MUDA fake documents when such cases are frequently coming to light. 

Shivanna urged the Government to immediately form a SIT to probe such cases and bring the real culprits to book.
