Mysore/Mysuru: The 7th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to two years rigorous imprisonment and six months simple imprisonment after he was found guilty of attempting to murder a man with a machete (long) following a property dispute.

The man who was sentenced is C. Mahesh alias Jogi, a resident of Devanur village in Nanjangud taluk.

One D.S. Rakesh of Devanur village, who wanted to purchase the vacant site of his relative and neighbour Mahadevaiah, had paid some money to Mahadevaiah’s son Lokesh.

But Mahesh, who was tying his cattle and goat in the vacant site, began to create problems as he wanted the vacant site and frequent fights had taken place in this regard.

On Oct. 10, 2022, at about 6.30 pm, Mahesh, who had brought the machete with him, struck Rakesh’s head causing serious injuries. A case was registered at Kavalande Police Station.

Ramesh, who took up the case, heard the arguments from both sides, found Mahesh guilty of the crime and sentenced him to two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 under IPC Section 307 and another six months simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1,000 under IPC Section 504.
