Augment Chennai Central-Mysuru Shatabdi Express with extra First Class AC Executive Chair Car

May 12, 2019

Sir,

The train number 12007/12008 Chennai-Mysuru Shatabdi Express, operating via Bengaluru and Katpadi, has gained a very high patronage. The operation of this train is very beneficial especially on weekends, festivals and other regular days.

The down train travels to Chennai Central from Mysuru with a stop at Bengaluru conveniently at 16.25 hours. Thus, such a convenient departure from Mysuru has benefited many office-goers, weekend travellers, IT professionals, business travellers, families and other regular commuters.

The presence of the availability of one First Class AC Executive Chair Car (1A/EC) that is coach E1 is very welcome. The 1A/EC coach is preferred by majority of passengers owing to the comfort of seating arrangement with 2×2 rows of airline type wider seats with spacious leg room.

However, sometimes on weekends and festival holidays, the wait-list position from Mysuru side runs to a high number depriving a confirmed reservation for this 1A/EC coach. Also, since the introduction of first 1A/EC coach since this train’s inception, passengers haven’t witnessed any significant trials by the Railway authorities to augment any additional 1A/EC coach.

The positive move of augmentation of an additional 1A/EC coach as suggested and if implemented will help ensure right distribution of wait-listed passengers judiciously and further help to get a confirmed seat on-board 1A class of the Shatabdi Express.

Hence, the  Railway authorities at Mysuru Division are requested to urgently consider augmentation of extra First Class AC Executive Chair Car (E2) to the train number 12007/12008 Chennai Central-Mysuru Shatabdi Express.
