Auto and Taxi Trade Union demands financial package

May 7, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that COVID Curfew and COVID crisis have dealt a big blow to their income and livelihood, the City’s Auto and Taxi Trade Union has urged the State Government to announce a financial package for auto and taxi drivers, who are under deep distress having lost their earnings.

The Union, in a press release, said that it has launched an online campaign, pressing the Government not to seize commercial vehicles for at least one year for non-payment of taxes and to ensure indemnity from Bankers and Financiers who have extended loans for purchase of vehicles.

Demanding the Government to credit Rs.10,000 to every auto and taxi owner as relief in this hour of crisis, the Union demanded that the Government should exempt the auto and taxi owners  from Motor Vehicle Tax until April 2022 and waive off interest on loans in full.
