Auto drivers urge Government to announce package

Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s Samyukta Karnataka Autorickshaw Drivers and Owners Welfare Association has urged the Prime Minister to announce a special package for Autorickshaw, Taxi / Maxicab, Lorry and Bus  and Goods  Vehicle drivers, who are facing a lot of financial hardship due to COVID-19 lockdown. 

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, the Association members have appealed the Prime Minister to fulfil their demands, which included release of Rs.10,000 to each driver family for a period of three months, sanction of Interest-free Rs.1 lakh loan,waiver of house tax for a one year period, free distribution of LPG Domestic cylinder for one-year, free shelter for drivers who do not own homes, exemption of Vehicle Insurance for six  month period, issuance of free Fitness Certificate for vehicles, waiver of Green Tax and a two-year holiday for repayment of vehicle loans borrowed from Banks and other Financial Institutions, among others.
