Awareness on Energy Conservation Building Code

Mysuru: A two-day Capacity Building Workshop on ‘Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) was conducted by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India in association with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) recently for government engineers, architects, industrial engineers and civil engineers in Mysuru.

Dr. H.N. Nagendara, School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), University of Mysore (UoM), inaugurated the workshop by switching on a LED solar lantern. Speaking on the ocasion, he said, buildings are major consumers of energy in their construction, operation and maintenance phase. Hence, taking the utilisation of consumption into consideration, it is necessary to design a building focusing on energy conservation aspects.

Dr. Chandrashekar Doddamani, Managing Director, Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited, who was the chief guest, said, “Energy conservation and energy efficiency is the fastest, cleanest and cheapest way to meet energy needs. India could save each year by greatly improving energy conservation and energy efficiency in the building.”

A  technical session was conducted by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Government of India certified ECBC Master Trainer G. Kanagaraj  and K. Abilash Prabhu, S. Vanitha, A. Shashonk, Manisha Sharma, Project Officers from Energy Conservation Building Code Karnataka State Cell.

D.K. Dinesh Kumar, Project Engineer, KREDL, was also present at the event.
