Mysore/Mysuru: On the occasion of World Heart Day, an awareness jatha was organised in city this morning by the District Health and Family Welfare Office in association with Indian Medical Association (IMA), Mysore Branch, Gopala Gowda Shanthaveri Memorial Hospital and BGS Apollo Nursing College, Mysuru.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. K.H. Prasad, who flagged off the rally from the DHO Office premises in Nazarbad, said, “Nowadays we can see increase in heart attack cases among youngsters and senior citizens. Unhealthy lifestyle and bad food habits are the main reason for heart-related diseases. Also pressure and tension can cause lot of damage to the heart; so it is important to protect our heart from unnecessary pressure.”
“Regular health checkups, taking advice from doctors and indulging in regular exercise is must for a healthy life. Hospitals are conducting free medical camps to create awareness among people,” he said and called upon people to protect their hearts and lead a healthier life.
The rally passed via Hardinge Circle, Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, Mini Vidhana Soudha and ended at DHO Office. More than 80 members including medical students, doctors and staff of Health Department participated in the rally by holding placards and raising slogans to create awareness among people on the importance of protecting their heart.
Dr. Sujatha Rao, Dr. Chandraban Singh, Dr. Jayanath, Dr. Shivaprasad, Dr. Mahadevaprasad and others were present.
