Mysore Music Association brings a retro evening of Jazz, Rock and Soul to MRC Club House

Mysuru is in for a soul-stirring musical evening as singer Ayesha John takes centre stage at the ‘Back to the Groove’ concert tomorrow   (May 20) from 6 pm to 8.30 pm at MRC Club House – Wadiyar Pavilion in city.

An emerging artiste steadily making her mark on the live music circuit, Ayesha brings a distinctive sound that effortlessly bridges eras — weaving retro-inspired vocals with soulful melodies and a contemporary groove that feels both timeless and fresh. Whether she is channelling old-school classics or revisiting modern favourites, her performances are known for their warmth, rhythm and an infectious musical energy that draws audiences in from the very first note.

Music clearly runs deep in this family. Ayesha is the granddaughter of Usha Uthup, the legendary Indian pop and jazz icon whose distinctive voice and on-stage charisma have made her a beloved institution in Indian music for over five decades, and the daughter of Anjali Kurian, a renowned singer in her own right.

Adding a special dimension to the evening, Anjali Kurian will herself take to the stage alongside Ayesha, making this a rare and heart-warming multi-generational musical celebration.

The evening, themed around Jazz, Retro and Rock, promises to be an immersive live experience — a rare opportunity for Mysureans to unwind in a heritage setting while rediscovering the joy of live music.

The concert is presented by Mysore Music Association (MMA), one of Mysuru’s oldest cultural institutions, established in 1971. Over five decades, MMA has been a steadfast patron of music — nurturing talent, curating performances across genres and keeping the tradition of live music alive. ‘Back to the Groove’ is yet another expression of the Association’s commitment to bringing quality & accessible music to city. Tickets are available at the venue and entry is free for MMA members.
