B.Com student commits suicide at Jalapuri

Mysuru: A girl student has committed suicide by hanging self at Jalapuri yesterday evening.

The deceased is Girijalakshmi (19), daughter of City Police Special Division Assistant Sub-Inspector Gopinath and a resident of Police Quarters at Jalapuri. She was pursuing her first year B.Com at a private college in city.

She ended her life when her family members had gone out and the incident came to light when they returned in the evening. Though the family members rushed her to a nearby private hospital in Nazarbad, she had died by then, according to sources.

The body was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem, which was conducted today and the body was handed over to her family members.

A case has been registered at Nazarbad Police Station and the reason for Girijalakshmi to take the extreme step is not known.

ASI Gopinath’s brother had died about five days ago and now he has lost his daughter.
