Mysuru: Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa (BSY) inaugurated JSS ‘Hiriyara Mane’ (Elders’ Home)and Shiva Temple built by JSS Mahavidyapeetha at Vasu Layout in Ramakrishnanagar here on Sept. 9.
Speaking on the occasion, Yediyurappa said Suttur Mutt was like a big banyan tree, providing shelter and various services to thousands of people.
Observing that the Mutt has been rendering a slew of services which the Government should have done, he said that the Mutt has made a mark for itself in key sectors such as education and health.
“The seed of services sown by Dr. Sri Rajendra Swamiji has now grown into a big banyan tree under which thousands of people have taken shelter. Today, the services of the Mutt have crossed all borders,” he stated.
Noting that senior citizens are indeed an asset of the society, Yediyurappa said the ‘Hiriyara Mane’ provides shelter and care to elderly citizens in their final years.

Mysuru’s Sri Ramakrishna Ashram Head Swami Muktidanandaji, in his address, said that the construction of Shiva Temple has created a Kashi-like holy atmosphere in the campus.
Avadhoota Datta Peetham’s Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji said that this Home provides shelter and care to elderly citizens in the evening of their lives. The Suttur Mutt’s services is a perfect example for the saying ‘Service of humanity is indeed godly service’, he added.
Donors who extended monetary help for the construction, the architect and contractor of the building were felicitated on the occasion.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Kanakapura Degula Mutt Seer Sri Channabasava Swamiji, former Minister Rani Satish, MLA G.T. Devegowda, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Bettsurmath, S. Basavaraju and M.P. Pushpalatha were present.
