B.V. Karanth College Rangothsava at Rangayana from tomorrow

Mysuru: This year’s B.V. Karanth College Rangothsava will be from held from Sept.24 to Oct.5 at Bhoomigeeta in Rangayana premises, said senior theatre director and former Rangayana Director Chidambara Rao Jambe here yesterday.

Addressing press persons at Rangayana, he said that the theatre repertory had been organising the festival for the past 10 years and this year’s was the 11th edition of the festival.

Stating that was fitting tribute to Rangayana Founding Director B.V. Karanth, Jambe added that the institution should continue its work to bring in more and more youngsters to the theatre.

Senior Theatre Director from Patna, Sanjay Upadhyaya, lauded Rangayana for its continuous work to introduce theatre activities among  student community.

This year’s College Rangothsava will be inaugurated by Sanjya Upadhyaya. Karantaka Sangha, Mandya, President Jayaprakash Gowda and Shanthi Arts, Science and Commerce College Principal Dr. C. Nagaraj will be the chief guests.

Former Rangayana Director Chidambara Rao Jambe will preside. Rangayana Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy and College Rangothsava Convenor Hulugappa Kattimani will be present.

The 11th edition of the festival will not only feature colleges from Mysuru but also from neighbouring Kodagu, Mandya, Malavalli, K.R. Pet, T. Narasipur and Hunsur.

While tickets are priced at Rs.30 for plays to be staged between Sept.24 and 28, entry will be free for plays to be staged between Sept.30 and Oct.5 marking Dasara celebrations.
