Mysuru: M. Babu, In-charge Sub-Inspector, Mysuru District Police Bomb Squad and Sharavana, Armed Reserve Sub-Inspector, DAR, have been selected for the President’s Medal to be given as part of Independence Day.

Babu, son of M. Muniswamy and Durgammal, hails from Bengaluru and joined Police Department in 1978 and worked in Police Dog Squad. He got trained in bomb disposal from National Police Academy, Hyderabad and was associated with STF. He has been working as Guest Lecturer at Police Training Schools and is a good anchor too. He won the CM’s Medal in 2010 and has also won over 100 cash awards and certificates.

Sharavana, son of V. Ramakrishna and Shanti of city, was presented CM’s Gold Medal during 2011-12. He joined the Police Dept. in 1989. He has won the individual championship in Annual Police Sports in 1994. He is a good protocol attendant for the Department and was associated with STF operations.

Kodagu SP too bags honour

Kodagu SP P. Rajendra Prasad has also been selected for the prestigious President’s Vishisht  Seva Medal.

Rajendra Prasad, a native of Kolar district, has completed his MA (Economics) and LLB. Before joining the Police Department, he worked as an Economics lecturer between 1985 to 1987 at First Grade Colleges in Tumakuru and Mudigere. Later, he worked in Vijaya College in Bengaluru from 1988 to 1997. He later joined the Police Department and worked in Kalaburagi, Madikeri and Udupi as Dy.SP between 1999 to 2002.

He has also worked as Additional SP in Haveri and Belagavi, DCP (Law and Order) in Mysuru City, KPA Deputy Director, State Intelligence SP, before taking charge as Kodagu SP in 2016.
