This year’s theme is ‘Indianness’
Mysore/Mysuru: Bahuroopi-2022, the annual National Theatre Festival will be organised by Rangayana, Mysuru, from Dec. 8 to 15 at its premises.
Announcing this at a press meet at Rangayana recently, Rangayana Mysuru Director Addanda C. Cariappa said that the theme for this year’s Bahuroopi is ‘Bharateeyate’ (Indianness).
“I have successfully hosted two Bahuroopis with the theme ‘Gandhi Patha’ and ‘Taayi’. Owing to COVID-19 crisis, Bahuroopi-2021 was held in March 2022. However, this year’s Bahuroopi is scheduled to happen next month,” he said.
“Bahuroopi-2022 focuses on holding events that will promote the diverse culture of India and heritage of the land and developments of the society. India has a rich history, culture and traditions. We have a history of thousands of years with many great personalities contributing in its development. The Theatre Festival attempts to strengthen nationalism and create awareness to the new generation about the history, culture and patriotic fervour of India,” he added.
The list of chief guests, theme of various seminars to be held during the Theatre Festival, the number of plays to be staged and other details are being finalised and will be announced shortly.
Rangayana Deputy Director Nirmala Mathapati and Bahuroopi-2022 Convenor Jagdish Manavarthe were present.
