January 2, 2019

DC holds preliminary meeting

Mysuru:  The Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival will be held at Rangayana this year from Jan.12 to 18 and the officials concerned must make all preparations for holding the Fest, said DC Abhiram G. Sankar.

He was addressing the officials at the preliminary meeting at Kutira in Rangayana premises here yesterday and said that Sri Ramayana Darshanam will be staged every two days before the staging of plays of nine languages from different States.

The Theatre Festival will be held at Rangayana and Kalamandira, he added.

Artistes from various States will be arriving in city and all preparations must be made for their stay and picking them up and dropping them at the venue.

He asked the officials to write to PWD, University of Mysore (UoM) and Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) to reserve rooms in their guest houses for the artistes.

Since Bahuroopi is being held during the holiday season as it coincides with Government Holidays, a lot of tourists are expected to arrive in city. The officers should coordinate with the Hotel Owners Association and the Tourism Department for wider publicity, he said.

During the Festival days, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) should provide water tankers, temporary toilets, clean environment and every day, mosquito repellents should be sprayed, said the DC.

On the outer periphery of Rangayana lies Kukkarahalli Lake and in this region, the Rangayana officials must take care to see that the waste generated during the Festival is not disposed off here, he said.
