Valmiki Development Corporation money-laundering case

Bengaluru: Upping the ante on its demand for the resignation of Minister B. Nagendra, who is a prime accused in Valmiki Development Corporation money-laundering case, the opposition BJP-JD(S) combine will take out a Ballari Chalo from Sept.1, covering three districts (Raichur, Koppal and Ballari) of Kalyana-Karnataka region, travelling nearly 200 kms.

Announcing this at a press meet in the State capital on Tuesday, State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra said that the BJP, which staged an indefinite dharna inside the State Legislature during the now terminated Monsoon Session, will now be launching Ballari Chalo seeking the resignation of Minister Nagendra.

Pointing out that the JD(S) has extended its full support for the padayatra, Vijayendra said that the 10-day padayatra (Sept.1 to 10) will be launched at Gurgunta in Raichur district in the presence of Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and H.D. Kumaraswamy.

The padayatra will pass through Lingasugur, Maski, Sindhanur, Sirguppa, Tekkalakote, Sindhageri and other places before culminating at Ballari with a mega public rally on Sept.10.

The Opposition will also highlight the failures and follies of the ruling Congress dispensation in the State, he noted.

Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly R. Ashok, MLC Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, MLA G. Janardhan Reddy, former Ministers B. Sriramulu, C.T. Ravi and others were present.
