Bank employee commits suicide

Mysuru: A bank employee, depressed over family issues committed suicide by jumping into a lake at Lalithadripura here.

The deceased has been identified as Venugopal (28), a resident of Kurubarahalli here and an employee of Canara Bank.

Mysuru South Rural Circle Inspector Karim Rawat, SI Jayaprakash and staff, who rushed to the spot, summoned Fire and Emergency Services personnel to the spot and managed to fish out the body after an hour-long operation. Before committing suicide, Venugopal, on Thursday morning called his brother over the phone and informed him that he was committing suicide as his was depressed over his wife’s illicit relationship and his father-in-law had hid this fact and had got his daughter married to him, it is learnt.

Based on the complaint lodged by Venugopal’s brother, a cash been registered against Venugopal’s wife and his father-in-law, according to Mysuru South Rural Police.
