Wastes such as household garbage, plastics, paper, beds, pillows, thermocol packing, empty cardboard boxes, packing materials and other such items, which are dumped along the big drain connecting Bannimantap and Hanumanthanagar, adjacent to Bhuvaneshwari Kalyana Mantap, are being ignited by unknown persons resulting in toxic smoke engulfing the surroundings. Though MCC has put up a board warning public against dumping garbage and hand over the same to Pourakarmikas who come to the doorstep every morning, garbage is still being dumped and set on fire. Also, electric wires are being burnt in this spot to collect copper which is resulting in toxic fumes and smell spreading in the area. Residents have urged the MCC to initiate strict action against those dumping garbage and setting them on fire and also take steps to get the dumped garbage cleared at the earliest.
