Battle for T. Narasipur Reserved Constituency: Is there a secret pact between Sunil Bose and Ashwin Kumar?

February 21, 2018

Mysuru: The forthcoming Assembly elections will throw up interesting permutations and combinations. And the combinations might include political parties putting up dummy candidates to ensure the victory of other ‘powerful’ candidates put up by ‘rival’ parties. These activities might once again prove the old adage that there are no permanent friends or permanent enemies in politics.

Take the prestigious T. Narasipur constituency for example. It is at present represented by Mysuru District Minister and CM Siddharamaiah’s close confidant Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa. While there are indications that Dr. Mahadevappa will contest from C.V. Raman Nagar in Bengaluru, his son Sunil Bose will try his luck from T. Narasipur. And since several months, Dr. Mahadevappa has been silently building a base for his son there.

Political activities have already begun in T. Narasipur with the JD(S) announcing the candidature of Zilla Panchayat Member Ashwin Kumar, despite stiff competition from other JD(S) aspirants. If sources are to be believed, Ashwin Kumar has entered into a secret agreement with Sunil Bose to ensure the latter’s victory. To prove their point, sources display a photograph of a secret meeting with Sunil Bose and Ashwin Kumar.

The photograph is now being widely circulated in social media and this has created confusion in the minds of JD(S) workers.

Meanwhile, Ashwin Kumar has denied that he met Sunil Bose and termed that it is a political conspiracy.  He has even lodged a Police complaint in T. Narasipur urging the Police to take action against people who have circulated the photograph to create confusion in the minds of voters. Ashwin Kumar has lodged the complaint through JD(S) worker Mohan Kumar.

PROTEST AGAINST  ASHWIN KUMAR

Meanwhile, enraged by the photograph of Ashwin Kumar and Sunil Bose together, JD(S) workers have been staging protest in T. Narasipur. Yesterday they blocked the Bus Stand Road in Bannur town and demanded the JD(S) leaders to remove Ashwin Kumar from the MLA candidature as he has already entered into a secret pact with Sunil Bose of the Congress.

Shouting slogans against Ashwin Kumar, the protesters said that JD(S) has a bright chance of winning the Reserved Constituency and the party must provide tickets to a winning candidate like S. Shankar by removing people like Ashwin Kumar. They urged the JD(S) leaders not to fall prey to the ‘conspiracies hatched by the Congress.’

They alleged that Ashwin Kumar, in collusion with Sunil Bose and his father Dr. Mahadevappa, had brought disrepute to honest JD(S) workers who have built the party from the grass-roots level and had also dented their self-esteem.
